Gutenberg 19.1 in a Brief: Check Out the Latest Updates in the WordPress Block Editor

Gutenberg 19.1 is highly focused on block design enhancements centering around plugin template registration API, new styling elements for a few blocks, improvements in present blocks and bug fixes. By upgrading to this new version of the WordPress block editor, Gutenberg 19.1, you can see new data views, design tools, better defaults of zoomed out view, etc.

Plugin Template Registration API

A long-awaited plugin template registration API and adjustments to image caption styles are included in this release. It resolves a long-persistent challenge that developers have encountered with plugin and theme conflicts, especially when managing custom post types, taxonomies, or virtual pages.

New Gutenberg 19.1 includes a new API so developers can easily register templates directly into their plugins, allowing for better user experiences. Here is the API code for the register block template.

Updated Image Caption Styles

The new Gutenberg 19.1 release also includes improvements to the image caption styles. In the past, the shadow was displayed in a more intense and unbalanced manner alongside the image captions. Now, the shadow has toned down the intensity of the caption background. Check out the changes from below image:
